Empowering Minds, Transforming Lives: Discover Your Inner Strength

Emilia Tiainen

I am a highly qualified and experienced clinical psychologist who offers evidence-based services for individuals of all ages. My educational background includes a Bachelor of Arts with Honours from the University of Otago, New Zealand and a Master of Clinical Psychology degree from James Cook University.

For adults, I provide treatments that are informed by the latest scientific evidence and research. I specialize in addressing a wide range of psychological concerns, including anxiety (such as phobias, panic, generalized anxiety/worry, and OCD), depression, anger management, adjustment difficulties, trauma and PTSD, parenting difficulties, relationship problems, grief and loss, as well as life stresses. I also offer comprehensive psychometric assessments to aid in diagnosis and treatment planning. My approach is tailored to each individual's unique needs, ensuring that they receive effective and personalized care. In addition, I am trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy, a structured and evidence-based treatment for trauma and related conditions.

My passion for supporting families is evident in my work with children. As a mother of three children myself, I understand the challenges families face. I work directly with children and collaborate with their parents to address social, behavioural, and parenting difficulties. I utilize warm and caring methods of treatment to help children, adolescents, and families navigate a variety of issues, including trauma and PTSD, behavioural problems, anxiety (such as phobias, generalized anxiety, and panic), depression, school issues and refusal, study stress, bullying, challenges with friendships, ADHD (including assessment and treatment), grief and loss, family breakdown, and sibling rivalry.

I provide comprehensive ADHD assessments and treatments for both children and adults, utilizing evidence-based tools and techniques to ensure accurate diagnosis. My expertise, combined with my compassionate approach, allows me to provide comprehensive support to individuals and families in need. I am dedicated to staying up-to-date with the latest research and evidence-based practices to ensure the highest quality of care for my clients.
